The Langley Rivermen finished off the 2017-18 season in second place of the Mainland Division earning them a playoff spot. The R-men would faceoff against the Surrey Eagles in round one which was an all out slugfest, unfortunately they would come up short losing the series 4-2.
This upcoming season the Rivermen look to build on last years efforts and get the ball rolling early. Captain’s camp is just around the corner on the 13th while training camp opens up on the 20th.
Langley fans will see a very familiar last name this upcoming season as Kalen Szeto committed to the Rivermen this past October. Kalen is the younger brother of Justin Szeto who played for the team from 2014-2016. Kalen comes to the team from the Burnaby Winter Club Prep team.
As well GM / Head Coach Bobby Henderson announced that Ryan Helliwell has committed to the team too. Ryan comes from the same Prep Club as Kalen Szeto.
Some other new names will be noticed this season as Logan Martinson, Dawson Frank & Joel Patsey look to leave their mark. Veteran Trevor Ayre is also making his return to the team.
We are 27 days away from the season home opener vs the Penticton Vees. I will be there to give you all a first hand account of game one this season.
You can catch the Rivermen games live in person at George Preston Recreation Centre in Langley or watch them play via Hockey TV & listen in with BCHL score page at http://www.bchl.ca
