In a Friday afternoon news dump, the Quad City storm revealed the jerseys they will be rocking for their first season in the SPHL.
Here’s the tweet that gave us the reveal:

And here’s a closer look at each jersey.
And we, the uniform experts here at Bus League Hockey, most certainly have some thoughts on these! Do they make the grade or will the Storm be the laughing stock of the league when they hit the ice? Here are our grades!

I am pleasantly surprised on these! I think the colors are fantastic together, the black and teal is sharp, and so is is the grey and teal on the lower jersey. And the striping is fun and gives these a different look than most traditional jersey templates! The only issue I have is on the black jersey, and if kind of confirms what we were worried about: That the logo kind of sort of doesn’t really fit on a hockey jersey. Mainly on the black one, the logo just looks kind of odd over all those stripes. Maybe it would have popped more with a teal jersey instead of black?
But I love the grey one, partly because it’s grey and differs from the usual white jerseys we always see. The Stormy logo being front and center between the block QC is really nice and seems to mesh well with the stripes. I’d buy that grey one tomorrow.
OVERALL: The black one is just OK, so I give that one a B- and would be interested in seeing that template in teal, but the grey one is really well done and gets an A from me. Can’t wait to see it on the ice. Also, great to see a jersey that finally supports the troops.

These are fine jerseys, kind of a safe middle road with a few unique touches. The electric blue utilized from the logo on both the lights and darks are nice. I really prefer the dark jerseys, but would like it better if it had the QC that the light jersey has. The clean lettering and numbers sticking out from the jersey pleases my inner broadcaster.
THAT is my biggest quarrel with the light jerseys. Any time the numbers and letters are not outstanding enough or get blurred by design, you’re on my bad side. The lines on the grays aren’t inherently too difficult, but any obstruction is less than favorable. Aesthetically speaking even, it just doesn’t work like it does for the dark. The POWMIA and USA flags on the shoulders are an unexpected but nice touch. I definitely prefer the light jersey logo to the dark, but the dark jerseys in its entirety.
Overall, these jerseys are a good representation of the storm name, with a dark and stormy black and rain cloud gray. I give the black jerseys a B and the grey jerseys a C+.

These are fine uniforms. Good color scheme, the greys might be a bit difficult to see the numbers on the back but time will tell.
Once these uniforms get all of their final patches I’m certain they’ll look sharp. I need to admit that I couldn’t stand their logo, but now seeing their full vision, they made a fan out of me.
Overall grade for me would be a B+.
