Welcome Mathew Torgerson on the Bus!

Since the inception of the site, Bus League Hockey has been a mainly two-man band with Rovitz and I splitting main writing duties, with BrianoMobile and IHL Commissioner Drake MacKenzie contributing columns as well.

Today we officially add to our writing staff with the addition of Mathew Torgerson, a native of west Canada who calls junior hockey his home.

“Hockey is a passion; has been all my life,” said Torgerson “I’ve provided coverage for some major tournaments across Canada including the Telus Cup & Allan Cup. Last year I covered Junior C hockey in Manitoba.”

With this experience, Torgerson moves to join BLH with his focus being the British Columbia Hockey League, Canadian Roller hockey, and goalie history in the Federal Hockey League.

Torgerson currently runs the Facebook group “Goalies of the FHL”, which he founded and works as an archivist of the leagues backstops.

On top of this, he has contributed greatly across various FHL platforms, and has been a long-time friend-of-the-site.

Hockey has always ran in the blood of Torgerson, as his family has professional hockey experience in both cities of Rovitz and I.

“My uncle, Tim Williams, played for Flint in the 70’s. Played over 50 games before injury, was a pest on the blue line.”

The latter uncle has helped as inspiration for a book on the Southwest Hockey League that Torgerson is writing.

“My other uncle, Scott Williams, was a forward for…the Amarillo Wranglers of the SWHL. Scored some beauty goals, old school stuff.”

We proudly welcome Mathew Torgerson aboard, and look forward to his first two columns, which have already been conceptualized.

Look forward to his introduction piece in the coming days.
